Traveling the world, making friends, shaping the future

Hi, I’m Alayna.

I’m detail-oriented, organized, diligent, and highly conscientious.

I look forward to a career involving public relations, human relations, and brand representation.

CBIZ INSURANCE SERVICES

Throughout the summer of  2024 and continuing again the fall of 2024, I have worked as an intern in the Human Resources Benefits division of CBIZ in Kansas City, MO. My summer role involved the development and optimization of a platform intended to make the awarding of bonuses more equitable, transparent, and objective. This work reinforced and expanded my skills in Excel and the Microsoft suite of applications.

ROCKHURST UNIVERSITY: COLLEGE OF BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY

I began taking graduate courses toward an MBA over the summer of 2024. My graduate degree will emphasize Data Strategy & Leadership.

ROCKHURST UNIVERSITY

Amid the COVID pandemic, I graduated high school a year early and was accepted into the Rockhurst University Honor’s program as well as the Dean’s Scholars Program (BSBA/MBA in 4+1 years) to study Business. Outside of my coursework, I have assumed leadership positions as Vice President, Secretary, and event coordinator for the Dean’s Scholars Program, the business honor society, and my sorority, respectively. These roles have nurtured my finance and organizational skills while cultivating my community network.

BSBA – 5.25

9.23 – 2.24

GPA = 4.0

HEBREW UNIVERSITY of JERUSALEM

As part of my international business experience, I studied at the Rothberg International School at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I spent the first month learning practical Hebrew and the fall semester focused on Middle East geopolitical and philosophical studies, along with an exploration of entrepreneurship and innovation. I remained in Israel for as long as I could after the war broke out. Living in an active war zone was an experience unto itself! Ultimately, I had to evacuate Israel and I made a rather harrowing trip through the country and into Jordan before flying home. Still, I continued my education online – mostly at 4 am!

9.21 – 9.24

JOHNSON COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION

I adore children. In September 2021, I began working in an afterschool/camp program. After just six months, I was promoted to Assistant Director. My job involves conducting placement interviews, creating staff schedules, and developing daily activities and creative projects for the students. Several of my initiatives have been featured in the JCPRD newsletters and on their website.

PRINT AND RUNWAY MODEL

When I’m not at school or work, I represent photographers and designers. Print and runway work has enhanced my confidence and poise under pressure.

WORLDWIDE TRAVEL

I’ve been to so many incredible places in the US and around the world!

I was adopted from China and returned there at nine years old to meet the orphanage director who found me and the ayi who helped nurture me in my infancy.  I’ve floated in the Dead Sea, slept in a castle on the Romantic Road, and visited the Harry Potter Studios. But I’ve also felt my heart break as I dropped baht into the cup of a little girl hobbled and begging on the streets of Bangkok, slept with one eye open in the Costa Rican jungle surrounded by bugs bigger than my head, and suffered nightmares of my mother and brother perishing after touring the Dachau concentration camp.

I’ve come to realize that to understand business on an international scale, one must understand peoples, cultures, and the intricate webs of history.

Did I mention I love meeting people?
